Indonesia expects $1b Apple investment after iPhone 16 ban
Indonesia expects a US$1 billion investment from Apple after the country imposed a sales ban on the iPhone 16.
The ban followed Apple’s failure to meet a requirement for 40% local components in devices sold in Indonesia.
Rosan Roeslani, Indonesia’s investment minister, told lawmakers about the anticipated investment if Apple includes the country in its supply chain.
The US$1 billion investment is described as the first phase of Apple’s commitment.
Apple has not commented on the matter.
