Hyundai develops solid-state EV batteries for 2030

Hyundai Motor’s plan to produce its own electric vehicle (EV) batteries is raising concerns among battery manufacturers.

The shift may impact sales for local suppliers such as SK On and LG Energy Solution.

The South Korean automaker aims to begin trial production of all-solid-state batteries by the end of 2025.

Commercial availability is projected around 2030, as Hyundai seeks to reduce EV production costs to compete with price-competitive Chinese manufacturers.
