Hyundai donates $1m to Trump, expands US EV plant

Hyundai Motor Company has donated US$1 million to the inauguration of United States President-Elect Donald Trump, which is set for January 20.

This marks the first time the South Korean automaker has made a donation to an American presidential inauguration.

The donation follows Hyundai’s announcement of construction for the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia, which commenced in 2022.

The plant is expected to be the company’s first dedicated electric vehicle mass production facility.

Plans for completion are set for June 2025, with an annual production capacity of up to 500,000 electric vehicles.
