Huawei uses South Korean chips amid export controls
Huawei Technologies’ latest smartphone series, the Mate 70, includes memory chips supplied by South Korea’s SK Hynix.
The Mate 70 Pro features a 12GB low-power mobile DRAM and 512GB NAND flash storage, both made by SK Hynix.
Previously, Huawei relied on Chinese-made memory chips.
The use of SK Hynix components marks a shift amid US-led export controls restricting access to advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment in China.
Huawei and SK Hynix have not commented about this finding.
