Huawei plans AI chip production by 2025 amid US sanctions

Huawei aims to mass-produce its Ascend 910C AI chip by early 2025 despite US restrictions, sources say.

Huawei has sent samples of the Ascend 910C to select technology firms and is now accepting pre-orders, according to sources.

These chips are produced by Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) using its N+2 process.

However, limited access to advanced lithography equipment has reduced the chip’s yield to around 20%, a source revealed.
