Google’s AI agent enhances voice assist in Mercedes CLA
Google Cloud has announced the launch of the Automotive AI Agent, a generative AI-based solution designed to improve voice assistance in vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz plans to integrate the Automotive AI Agent into its MBUX Virtual Assistant for the new CLA model later this year.
This integration will include features such as real-time information from Google Maps, support for multi-turn dialogue, and the ability to recall previous conversations.
This technology, developed using the Gemini model with Vertex AI, aims to offer more personalized interactions than traditional in-car voice systems.
The Automotive AI Agent features multimodal reasoning and supports multiple languages, facilitating natural and detailed interactions.
For example, it can respond to inquiries such as, “Is there an Italian restaurant nearby?” and follow up with answers like, “Does the restaurant have good reviews?” or “What is the most popular dish there?”
