Google DeepMind forms team to improve AI, world models

Google DeepMind has established a new research team dedicated to world models, which are designed to simulate physical environments.

The initiative is led by Tim Brooks, who joined DeepMind in October 2024 after previously co-leading OpenAI’s Sora project.

World models are an emerging field in AI with potential applications in creating interactive media, video games, and realistic training scenarios for robots.

This project is part of Google’s broader commitment to advancing artificial general intelligence (AGI), an important goal in AI development.
