Elon Musk says he has no plans to buy TikTok

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, said he is not seeking to acquire TikTok, clarifying that he has not made a bid for the app.

Speaking at a conference, he mentioned he does not use TikTok and is unfamiliar with its features.

Musk added that acquiring companies is not typical for him, calling his 2022 purchase of Twitter, now known as X, as an exception.

“I usually build companies from scratch,” he said.

His comments come as the US government continues to scrutinize TikTok over national security concerns.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has shown interest in TikTok and suggested a  decision on its future could come in February.

As of Feb. 8, neither ByteDance nor TikTok has responded to requests for comment.
