Apple sets record revenue in India, iPhone leads sales
Apple reported record revenue from India during the October-December 2024 quarter, with the iPhone becoming the top-selling smartphone model.
CEO Tim Cook emphasized India’s importance as the second-largest global smartphone market.
He also highlighted India’s significance for both domestic sales and exports, adding that Apple’s manufacturing strategy relies on achieving economies of scale in the country.
The company plans to open four new retail stores in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi NCR, and Mumbai, adding to its existing locations.
Apple also launched the Apple Store app in India and is developing Apple Intelligence in multiple languages, including localized version of English used in India.
In 2024, iPhone exports from India exceeded 1.08 trillion rupees (US$12.8 billion).
The company is in talks with Bharat Forge, part of the Kalyani Group, as a potential vendor in India.
