Amazon has announced job cuts in its communications and sustainability divisions as part of a restructuring effort.

Drew Herdener, the executive overseeing these units, informed employees of the layoffs in an internal memo on Jan. 29.

Herdener cited redundancies and roles with limited scope.

Amazon plans to provide financial support, benefits, and job-placement assistance to affected employees.

Some staff may be rehired for roles at different levels, or their positions may be redistributed within the organization.
