Alibaba appoints AI expert Steven Hoi as VP

Alibaba Group Holding has appointed Steven Hoi Chu-hong as vice-president to enhance its AI team focused on consumer applications.

Hoi is a specialist in machine learning and computer vision.

He previously served as managing director of Salesforce Research Asia.

Based in Singapore, Hoi will work within Alibaba’s Intelligent Information Platform.

This includes consumer-facing AI products like its chatbot, UC Browser, and search engine Quark.
