New Twitter Feature โ€˜Listsโ€™ Will Benefit Everyone

twitter-logoYesterday, Twitter announced its new feature โ€˜Listsโ€™. It aims to bring like-minded tweeps, such as business minded people or football fans together on a list. It is pretty similar to a Facebook page or group.

A particular list that you form on Twitter can either be set as public or private. This will obviously bring in plenty of opportunities.

More from Nick Kallen, the project lead on lists:

โ€œThe idea is to allow people to curate lists of Twitter accounts. For example, you could create a list of the funniest Twitter accounts of all time, athletes, local businesses, friends, or any compilation that makes sense.โ€

โ€œLists are public by default (but can be made private) and the lists youโ€™ve created are linked from your profile. Other Twitter users can then subscribe to your lists. This means lists have the potential to be an important new discovery mechanism for great tweets and accounts.โ€

So what are the benefits it brings?

For Work: Discussing work related matters can be fun on Twitter. With only 140 characters for each tweet, it makes communication efficient by forcing everyone to make a concise and clear statement. (Make sure your list is set to private for confidential info)

For Businesses: With this feature, we can very well expect lists like โ€œMarketingโ€, โ€œSocial Mediaโ€ or โ€œCustomized T-Shirtsโ€ to surface on Twitter. Joining the right lists will make your business easily searchable on Twitterโ€™s โ€˜directoryโ€™.

For Information consumption: As a tweep, subscribing to lists can bring  you the best tweets from different groups of people, enabling you to receive specific types of tweets you are interested in. Now, isnโ€™t that easier?
