What comes to mind when you think about enterprise software?

You probably think of SaaS tools, systems that help your business track core operations – finance, inventory, HR, and all the other nitty-gritty details that keep a company chugging along.

While enterprise software has traditionally been seen as a tool for managing core business functions, the landscape is rapidly changing.

Today, with the vast amounts of data that providers such as NetSuite handle across industries, the real potential lies in how AI can be applied to drive smarter decision-making, increase efficiency, and uncover new insights. This marks a shift, as enterprise software transforms from a system of record into an intelligent partner that helps businesses achieve much more.

“The cloud is no longer just about software access; it’s about enabling the latest AI models and driving efficiency and business insight,” says Amit Suxena, group vice president and head of NetSuite Asia.

The AI opportunity

The rise of AI, in particular, has set the stage for NetSuite to unlock new opportunities to support the companies that use its services.

The firm, which was founded in 1998 and acquired by Oracle in 2016, is best known for its comprehensive business management suite that encompasses finance and accounting, supply chain and inventory operations, customer relationship management, and more. NetSuite has evolved its platform for the age of AI, embedding the tech throughout its suite of solutions to make enterprise-grade AI accessible to customers of all sizes.

“In emerging Asian markets like the Philippines, Indonesia, and India, many SMEs are still unsure where to start. They often ask, ‘Where should I use AI? I’m not in the business of technology,’” explains Suxena.

“Our job is to take that uncertainty away. By embedding AI across NetSuite’s workflows, we make it so that users benefit from it automatically, without having to make a separate ‘AI decision,’” he adds.

For example, NetSuite users can leverage agentic workflows to automate complex tasks such as payment proposals, reconciliations, and supply chain operations, speed up document processing with optical character recognition, and they can also receive AI-driven financial forecasts to support planning efforts.

It creates avenues for businesses to gain in-depth insights into their operation and unlock new growth opportunities.

DVI Solutions, a workplace technology provider based in Singapore, is one example. It expanded rapidly over the last few years, fueled by rising demand for hybrid collaboration spaces, and currently has 13 subsidiaries and employs over 200 employees across 10 countries.

This rapid expansion exposed cracks at the company. It had 15 disconnected systems and thousands of spreadsheets tracking different pieces of information, ranging from stock records to sales and procurement data. This fragmented set-up created data silos, inconsistent reporting, and time-consuming manual processes that strained operational capacity and affected customer service.

“We had data we couldn’t trust and were not able to make timely decisions,” says Tanish Dhillon, general manager of DVI Solutions.

Working with NetSuite, DVI Solutions replaced its patchwork of systems with the company’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. It centralized all its business data within NetSuite Analytics Warehouse, which enables data to be quickly analyzed with embedded AI to deliver actionable, real-time insights.

It also leveraged NetSuite’s warehouse management capabilities to more accurately manage inventory, boosting accuracy to 90% in four days and revealing that the company had over S$10 million in stock, as opposed to S$1 million as previously assumed.

Ultimately, DVI Solutions was able to increase revenue 30% and reduce administrative work by 50%, while empowering employees with data.

“Decisions that were once based on gut feeling and an individual’s instincts and their perspective of the business can now be data-backed,” says Dhillon. “So that in itself creates a lot more confidence.”

More than just software

As NetSuite continues to evolve its services, it remains committed to helping customers such as DVI Solutions achieve the right business outcomes.

“Our philosophy at NetSuite has always been to make technology invisible. The goal is not for users to think about systems or configurations but about business outcomes,” says Suxena.

On the road ahead, new developments in AI continue to emerge at a breakneck pace, and with increasing sophistication. Against this backdrop, Singapore – and Southeast Asia more broadly – present prime opportunities for new solutions and services to thrive.

“We’re seeing a democratization of technology. Cloud and AI are no longer just enterprise tools; they’re becoming everyday business essentials for the corner retailer, the logistics startup, the family-owned manufacturing firm,” concludes Suxena. “Southeast Asia’s diversity of business models makes it the perfect testbed for this next wave of intelligent cloud adoption.”

For more than 25 years, Oracle NetSuite has helped organizations of all sizes reach their goals faster and more efficiently. NetSuite provides an integrated business system with embedded AI that delivers powerful financial management, supply chain, customer experience, and HR capabilities.

Relied on by more than 43,000 customers in 220 countries and dependent territories, NetSuite is a leading AI cloud enterprise resource planning solution.
