Mobile photo sharing is already very popular, and still on the rise — but there are still a lot of niches to fill. We learned about one today from Akky at Asiajin: Nailap. It’s an iPhone mobile app that aims to be the Instagram for nail artists or enthusiasts. I tried it and found it a very useful way to see pretty ladies’ nails. Heh.
And I’m also proud to say that I’m probably the first male to post my own “pretty” nails on Nailap. The social features work more or less the same as Instagram, allowing users to follow other users, share pictures to Twitter, and favorite and comment on others’ nails. Here are some screenshots:
The idea is pretty neat considering how ladies love to show off their nail art to their friends. Now they can show off to a whole mobile network of nail art enthusiasts. (And apparently, no one likes mine.) Nevertheless, I hear that nail art is especially popular among women in Japan, so don’t be surprised if Nailap scratches their itch.
Although the app states that it is compatible with the iPad 2, we found that install attempts only threw an error: “This application requires a camera with autofocus.” We have already alerted the folks at Nailap on this error message. Other than that, this app looks neat and we encourage you to give it a try (iTunes link). Be quick though as Asiajin states that only the first 100,000 downloads are free.
