2070 Health, an India-based healthcare venture studio, has raised US$30 million in seed funding from Boston-based W Health Ventures, which has a $100 million fund at its disposal.

Launched last year, 2070 Health said in a statement that it wants to build “futuristic” healthcare companies from scratch by helping founders rapidly test, launch, and iterate on their healthcare ideas.

The studio has a validation process that involves clinical studies, go-to-market experiments, and conversations with doctors and patients. It also deploys playbooks across clinical development, product, marketing, omnichannel growth, and enterprise partnerships.

Funding details

  • Funding amount: $30,000,000
  • Other investors: W Health Ventures
  • Stage: Seed

“The goal is to scale our companies faster, better, and cheaper than traditional startups in the riskiest early months of company building,” said Dr. Pankaj Jethwani, partner at W Health Ventures and CEO of 2070 Health.

“For example, 270 million Indians live with chronic back, neck, or joint pain. Care for such patients continues to be siloed and ineffective, resulting in patients living with pain for many years,” he also tells Tech in Asia in an interview.

Jethwani adds that 2070 Health plans prioritize problems “where we feel confident about building a 10x better solution than what exists today” and seeks to work with companies in that area over a period of seven to eight years.

So far, 2070 Health has launched three startups, which are healthcare digital provider Reveal HealthTech, pain management company Nivaan Care, and doctor-led weight loss program Elevate Now. The studio aims to launch 15 to 20 healthcare startups in the next five years.

The funds from this capital raise will be used to build the 2070 Health platform and provide seed funding for newly launched companies.
