Hi readers,
When I was growing up, my humble family moved from one house to the next at irregular intervals depending on how long our landlord allowed us to stay. One day, we were kicked out of a house we’d lived in for at least eight years and ran to my grandmother’s house at midnight.
My parents spent months searching for a new rental place relying on word of mouth and door-to-door surveys. In desperation, we ended up in a small, poorly maintained residence, where we spent a year before getting a more comfortable home. In my little mind, I always wished there was an easier and more manageable way to relocate.
I’m glad that today, many multigenerational Indonesian households with the same struggle can connect with not only property owners but also mortgage lenders conveniently with the help of technology. I’m even grateful that changes in consumer behavior are big enough to encourage new developers to adopt digital solutions in small areas.
In this article, we map out the key proptech players that have changed the blueprint for property transactions and management across the country. Considering Indonesia’s large and growing productive population and a lack of space in the urban scene, you can just imagine how much the industry can expand.
