The acquisition – done via a share swap deal – will see Centum’s parent Bharti Enterprises and its affiliates joining upGrad. It brings Centum’s impact-based training solutions under the upGrad umbrella.

However, Centum will continue to operate independently under the leadership of its current managing director and CEO, Sanjay Bahl. The firm is expected to pull in about US$21 million in revenue for its 2023 financial year.

Co-founded in 2015 by Ronnie Screwvala, Phalgun Kompalli, and Mayank Kumar, upGrad provides online education ranging from college learning to training for working professionals. It has offices in India, Singapore, Vietnam, the UK, the US, and the Middle East. The firm recently concluded a US$210 million funding round.

Centum, which was founded in 2007, currently has over 3,000 learning and development specialists training more than 2 million people, including those from over 400 companies across India and Africa.
