Mobile Internet Users in India and China Want Webpages to Load in Less Than 3 Seconds

With China and India obsessed with the mobile web, and half of Indonesian web surfers using mobile for their internet needs, the mobile web is surely going to play a very important role in spearheading today’s businesses.

A recent survey by Compuware shows that 73 percent of mobile phone users in China, and 58 percent in India, expect a website to load in three seconds or less on their phones.

User Expectations in China and India

China and India have the highest user expectations when it comes to expecting working websites and apps on their phones, and they seemingly will not hesitate in voicing their concerns. 77 percent of top companies’ websites appear to be ignoring the demand of these highly competitive markets as their sites take more than five seconds to load on mobile phones.

Over 4000 mobile web users from the US, the UK, Germany, France, China, and India were surveyed. And 71 percent of them expected websites to finish loading on their mobile phones almost as fast as – or faster – they load on their laptops or home computers.

Problem With Mobile Websites

The survey shows that the web experience on mobile devices is indeed slow, as 38 percent of the respondents identified slow loading as the most common problem they’ve encountered while accessing mobile websites and applications.

Almost half of mobile web users polled said that they were unlikely to return to a website if they had trouble accessing it from their phones, and 57 percent were unlikely to recommend that
site to anyone.
