Vidooly, a video analytics startup from India, today announced that it secured US$1 million in seed funding from Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP). The fresh funding will be used for getting users from across the globe and product development.

Vidooly tries to solve a major problem video creators face; they put a lot of effort into producing high quality content, but find it difficult to attract the right audience.

YouTube receives a massive amount of search queries, next only to Google. More than 300 hours of video are uploaded to the platform every minute. But out of the flood of videos, 90 percent generate less than 10,000 views in the first month.

Vidooly offers a marketing and analytics suite for YouTube to help creators maximize organic views, build an audience base, and increase revenue. Besides suggesting video tags and calculating the optimal time to publish, its software provides services like search rank analysis, competitor tracking, and subscriber behavior analysis.

Going global

Just seven-month-old, the startup’s clients include content creators, brands, and multi-channel networks (MCNs). It claims to have added 2,000 channels including Bollywood Hungama, Glamrs, and India Food Network. About 120,000 videos were uploaded last month through Vidooly’s network, while it’s big data engine analysed 500 million videos.

“We started from India and now are focusing on the Middle East and Southeast Asia as part of our expansion because of the growing content consumption in these regions,” says Nishant Radia, co-founder of Vidooly.

Radia is an electronic and telecommunication engineer who teamed up with Subrat Kar, product manager of Jabong and Ajay Mishra, software engineer of job search sites like IIMJobs and Monster last year to launch the video analytics startup.

Vidooly is Bessemer’s second investment in the video tooling space globally. It had earlier invested in VidYard, a video marketing and sales enablement platform. “Video consumption globally is a megatrend and comprises an estimated 60 percent of all data traffic on the web. Video analytics products help expand the video ecosystem by giving intelligent and actionable insights,” says Aakash Goel, vice president of Bessemer Partner Ventures.

Vidooly is a TLabs incubatee and the only company which got [funding] commitment on the demo day.
