MOBA Madness: learn from these Asian Dota 2 role models

Playing Dota 2 is a very complex and challenging game. If you’re looking to improve your game or learn something new, watching the pros is the way to go. Here are a few player recommendations you can follow depending on your role. By the way, they’re all Asian, since Asians are known for being good at video games 😉

carry

BurNIng

Real name: Xu Zhilei
Country: China
Current team: Team DK

There is a saying that goes “give BurNIng an inch of space and he will farm a mile”. It isn’t without basis, as one of the many things this veteran is known for is his insane farming skills. During The International 2013 (TI3), BurNIng’s Lone Druid had a stunning 60,422 net worth and successfully set the record for the most gold farmed by a single player in the history of Dota 2.

(See: Looking back at Asia’s performance in The International DOTA 2 Championships 2013)

In the previous Team DK roster, BurNIng was the center of the “four protect one” strategy, and favored farming up to late game. However, with the reformation of Team DK after TI3, he has been playing more aggressively and flexibly with an increased hero pool.

Sylar

Real name: Liu Jiajun
Country: China
Current team: Vici Gaming

Compared to BurNIng, Sylar is a relatively new player, but his carry skills are definitely on par for high-level competitive gaming. Sylar is a versatile carry player who can play different heroes in different ways while still being in a carry role. This allows for his team to create a variety of strategies as well as improvise in the middle of a game should the strategy fail. One interesting thing about Sylar is that he likes to stack and use tissue paper during games, as seen in this video.
