It has been a rough couple of weeks for China’s League of Legends leaders Team WE, and although it was anticipated, today brings news of another blow to the team’s roster: Misaya, the team captain, is retiring. Earlier today, he made the announcement via his Sina Weibo account:
With much discomfort and sorrow, I have made the final decision. On this road I have seen beautiful scenery and stood on mountaintops, but I have also fallen into valleys. I will never forget striving our hardest together with my brothers in competitions. Now I have left, but I’m not sad; esports will forever remain a beautiful dream in my heart. Finally, I want you all to know that I am well, I will cheer up, and I hope to always be the midlane killing god in your hearts.
As I said, this news is not a surprise — in fact I mentioned his impending retirement in this post a couple weeks ago — but it does leave Team WE quite thin given the apparent departures of Mann and FZZF.
That mess still hasn’t totally been straightened out, and for the moment the two are still officially subs for Team WE. But it seems quite likely that both have played their last competitive match for the team, so here’s the roster as it stands now (and the roster that Team WE will take into the G-League):
- Top: CaoMei
- Mid: sukiM*
- Jungle: Ruo*
- AD Carry: WeiXiao (captain)
- Support: Succa (on temporary loan from Positive Energy until after the G-League)
*New signings picked up from RisingStars Gaming.
So, as you can see, Team WE will go into G-League with a full roster, but a roster that contains only two of the five players who were on it just a couple weeks ago at WCG. That kind of dramatic turnover not likely to be a good thing, but at least the team hasn’t collapsed entirely.
