Middle Eastern Facebook Demographics in an Infographic

Facebook is huge, with over 700 million users, according to SocialBakers. In Asia, the social network is extremely popular, especially in Indonesia (over 39 million users), India (over 32 million), and Philippines (over 25 million). Most of Facebook’s top countries aren’t in Middle East.

So do Middle Easterners use Facebook? Of course they do, and blogger Wissam Dandan has created an infographic to tell the world how the Middle East fares on Facebook in terms of user count and demographics. It’s a neat list that allows you to quickly understand Facebook in Middle East. Here are some quick points I found interesting:

Facebook users in the Middle East are mostly males, clearly reflecting the region’s male-centric culture. In Yemen, almost eight out of every ten users are males.

English is the most widely-used language on Facebook. But Arabic also has significant usage numbers.

The U.A.E has the highest Facebook penetration rate in the Middle East, almost hitting the 50 percent mark. Most users in the U.A.E are English speakers. Kuwait and Qatar rank in second and third place, respectively.
