Microsoft showcased two new infrastructure chips to improve AI operations and enhance data security in its data centers.

This aligns with Microsoft’s strategy to develop proprietary silicon for both general-purpose and AI-centric needs, similar to initiatives by Amazon and Google.

One chip, a security feature called the Azure Integrated HSM, will be included in each new server starting next year to safeguard encryption and sensitive information. The other chip functions as a data processing unit.
