Metal Slug 3 enters closed beta as it prepares for its Steam release

It was announced today that the side scrolling classic, Metal Slug 3, has officially entered closed beta and will be released on Steam this coming February. The game was originally developed by SNK for the Neo-Geo MVS arcade platform in 2000, but was later ported to the Playstation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, Nintendo’s Virtual Console, Android, and iOS. Although there have been plenty of ports throughout the years, Steam’s latest port promises to have a few features that may make the purchase worth it.

Metal Slug is a series known for constant action with a waves upon waves of enemies constantly closing in on you. You and your friends will shoot constantly until you make it through the course and onto another. The Steam version will let you play through Metal Slug’s Arcade Mode, select specific stages in Mission Mode, team up with friends in the Online Mission, see original illustrations in the Gallery, and let you compare scores with its Leaderboards.

If you are hoping to get an early look at the closed beta, SNK has stated that if you like its Facebook or follow it on Twitter you may be picked to receive a beta key. This will allow you to play through a portion of the Metal Slug 3 and help SNK find errors in the game.
