Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will hit PC on January 9, pre-orders on sale right now
PC gamers don’t often get to venture into the world of Metal Gear, as the series has traditionally focused on console releases. Next year’s Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will also be a console release, but that doesn’t mean that PC gamers won’t get a taste of Metal Gear in 2014, because Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is coming to PCs on January 9.
Revengeance released on consoles back in February of this year to mostly positive reviews. It’s a bit of a departure from the Metal Gear Solid games; rather than stealth it focuses on brutal hack-and-slash action and stars series regular Raiden and his giant sword. Although overseen by Kojima Productions, the game was developed by Japan’s Platinum Games, and is being published by Konami.
And if you are a PC Metal Gear fan, the good news is that you’re getting a little bit of a reward for your patience, because the game is on sale for 33% off on Steam for the next couple days (as of this writing), which means it’s down to just $20. The game is also on sale on Amazon’s US digital downloads store, and is likely on sale at other major digital games sites, so if you’re looking to pre-order a copy, now is probably the time to do so.
If you’re not sure if this is your kind of thing, here’s a trailer for the game. In typical Metal Gear fashion, it is oddly long, but skip forward to the 3:25 mark which is where the very brutal gameplay footage begins.
