Earlier this week, South Korean developer Neoarena (a new game company founded by one of the former bosses at Neowiz) unveiled a new 3D RPG called East Online. The game is apparently based (loosely) on the Chinese classic novel Journey to the West. Here’s a trailer for the game; it hasn’t been released to the public yet and appears to be cam footage from an industry event.
The game will reportedly feature four separate playable classes, including two melee classes, and will be coming (to Korea, presumably) in December of this year. The game will also feature a system of collectible cards that imbue powers within the game world. Beyond that, the game’s still a bit of a mystery, but given that the game’s title and the class names are all in English, there’s at least hope that this one will be coming to gamers outside of Korea, too.
And actually, East Online is just the tip of the iceberg. At the press event, Neoarena announced it is working on ten different game projects, although most of them are mobile games and many are in such early stages that they still have working titles like “Project C”.
