Axie Infinity’s SLP token jumps 19% after revision of breeding fees
A fresh update for Axie Infinity, a blockchain-based video game developed by Vietnam-based Sky Mavis, sent the price of its smooth love potion (SLP) tokens surging 19% to US$0.046.
Axie Infinity revised its breeding fee for the game’s virtual pets, effective December 9. Users will now have to pay 3x more for SLP tokens – the in-game currency that users exchange for cash – than they currently do per Axie breed, which are the digital monsters that players own.
On the other hand, the amount of Axie Infinity Shards (AXS) required for breeding has been halved to 0.5 AXS per breed in the game.

In a blog post, Sky Mavis said one of the objectives of the revised fee was to manage inflation of in-game resources for better stability.
The change also aims to enable “both current and future players to obtain Axies at reasonable prices,” the company added.
This is the second time in the last few months that the blockchain-gaming firm has revised the breeding fee. In September too, it had reduced the AXS token cost and adjusted the SLP token cost per breed.
