Meet these 4 edtech startups exhibiting at the Tech in Asia Conference

Access to a better quality of education is a challenge in Southeast Asia. There are still several roadblocks faced by this region — from quality of education to the ability to meet the labour demand – and these issues have led to the emergence of education technology startups.

PTN Go

Every year in Indonesia, hundreds of thousands of high school graduates join SBMPTN–a national selection to enter state college held by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. In 2019, 714,652 participants struggled to make it through SBMPTN, with only 23.61% participants making the mark.

PTN Go wants to help high school students be better prepared for their SBMPTN test. The app will assess students through screening exercises and subsequently suggest relevant curriculums based on their level of competency.

Arkademi

As millennials take to studying through online platforms, insightful learning is required to improve their skills. Arkademi is an open online course based in Indonesia that wants to participate in this online learning trend.

Practitioners can upload and share their courses and videos in Arkademi. The platform also offers various learning topics; from digital marketing to entrepreneurship.

Foodizz

The food business holds an important role in Indonesia’s economy. A research by Nielsen showed that 11% of Indonesian citizens eat out at least once a day, higher than the global average of 9%. Meanwhile, another research stated that 90% of food business tend to fail.

Foodizz wants to reduce the failure rate of local food businesses by providing an online to offline platform for culinary businessmen to learn practical knowledge directly from food practitioners. The platform offers a variety of content such as videos, interviews, podcasts, and more.

loopinc.id

According to the Indonesia Career Center Network, 87% of college students in Indonesia did not major in a subject that they are interested in, with 71.7% of workers in professions not aligned with their education.

loopinc.id aims to help close this gap by helping Indonesian students in preparing for their future.

It claims to have a team of psychologists, educators, and human resource practitioners assisting students in selecting their majors. The startup also hosts several workshops, online psychological assessments, soft skills, and mentorship programmes to prepare students for the future.
