Indian healthtech firm gets $4m injection to bring healthcare to rural India

India-based GenWorks Health has received US$4 million in funding from alternative credit platform BlackSoil.

The healthtech firm was established by US-based conglomerate General Electric HealthCare, aiming to support healthcare professionals in rural areas through its distribution of affordable and accessible medical devices and consumables.

Its products can be used in areas such as screening, diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment.

Since being established in 2015, GenWorks has served over 40,000 customers across 700 districts in India.

The fresh funds will be used to fuel the company’s growth and further innovate its healthcare solutions.

BlackSoil previously invested US$2 million in GenWorks during a 2021 debt funding round. Its other investments include Oyo Rooms, Slice, Purplle, and Udaan.
