Noice, an Indonesia-based audio streaming platform, has conducted layoffs amid a “strategic organizational restructuring,” the company confirmed to Tech in Asia.
“This decision was incredibly difficult for us but it is a necessary step to ensure the future success and long-term sustainability of the company,” Noice CEO Rado Ardian said in a statement.
According to the company’s LinkedIn page, it has 215 employees. It is unclear how many are impacted.
One affected employee who asked to remain anonymous told Tech in Asia that they were notified last week. Another said their last day will be on August 31.
The company said that it is offering severance packages and career transition assistance for those impacted by the move.
Launched in 2018 and backed by radio company Mahaka Radio Integra, Noice offers a hyperlocal approach to podcasting and audio storytelling by platforming series in local dialects. Last month, it launched video podcasts and livestreaming features.
The company last raised funding in April 2022 – a US$22 million series A round led by Northstar, with participation from Alpha JWC Ventures, Kinesys, and Gojek’s Go-Ventures. Ardian and chief business officer Niken Sasmaya are both Google alumni.
