Blockchain platform backed by Mark Cuban lands $13m in series A funding

Mintable, a Mark Cuban-backed non-fungible token- (NFT) minting platform, said it raised US$13 million in its most recent funding round.

• Individual investors: American entrepreneur Doug Band, Shutterstock founder Jon Oringer, and Expedia Group’s John Kim
• Stage: Series A

• The Singapore-based company said it will use the new funds to scale its operations and acquire new users.
• Backed by billionaire investor Mark Cuban, Mintable is an NFT marketplace built on Ethereum and Zilliqa that helps creators monetize their work through browsing, minting, or selling tokens even without prior coding knowledge.
• Mintable said it saw strong growth in the past year, reaching a total of 700,000 items minted on its platform.
• The company earlier raised an undisclosed amount from Sound Ventures, the venture fund founded by U2 manager Guy Oseary and American actor Ashton Kutcher.
