Hello reader,

Sometimes, the most exciting twists come from the most unexpected places. For example, this week’s biggest deal is from Turkey, with investment platform Midas raising US$80 million in funding.

I find this intriguing because in all the years I’ve been writing updates to this newsletter, I don’t think I have seen a Turkish company make our list before. It’s pretty exciting and a good reminder that innovative enterprises can emerge from anywhere – that’s the joy of the tech and startup world.
