Photo sharing app LiveShare enhances Transformers convention in Singapore

Conferences, networking sessions, and entertainment events are getting a major shake-up, thanks to event organizers who are starting to use SoLoMo (social, local, moble) technology to enhance audience participation.

The ongoing Transformers Cybertron Con event, which packs Transformers-related exhibitions, seminars, and panel discussions into four days, is no exception. 

LiveShare, a live photo sharing mobile app by US-based Cooliris, has partnered with Hasbro to promote the use of the app at the convention. Attendees can share photos they’ve snapped on the mobile app, and see them beamed ‘live’ onto a large screen at the venue.

They can also check out photo streams consisting of photos shared by them and others, and publish these photos on Twitter and Facebook. For Hasbro, the app generates measurable returns in terms of publicity.

The streams are viewable on mobile, web, and the event’s Facebook Page. LiveShare is also powering a Facebook contest called Transformer Re-imagined, which invites the public to “reimagine” the transformers characters in new ways.

LiveShare differs from social networks and photo-sharing sites with its photo stream feature, tight integration with events, and its focus on photos as the primary medium.

Beyond the Cybertron Con, LiveShare was also at the Animax Carnival, a cosplay festival, in Malaysia last week. They were also at Singapore’s National Day Parade in August 2011, where they ran a photo contest on the app.
