In brief: Line launches its own cryptocurrency
Via Line press release:
Japan-based messaging app Line today unveiled its first digital token, Link, and its blockchain network, Link Chain, both of which were built independently by the company. With the launch, Line has become one of the largest and most established firms to issue a cryptocurrency.
Link will not hold an initial coin offering. It will instead utilize a reward system that gives users tokens as compensation for using certain services like ecommerce and social gaming within the Line ecosystem.
Line plans to register Link exclusively on its own exchange, Bitbox, next month.
