Lovely Planet is a trippy made-in-India shooter that now has a release date

Lovely Planet isn’t your average first-person shooter. It’s fast-paced, has next to no cover to crouch behind, and looks oh-so-cute. Also, it finally has a release date.You can bounce around this psychedelic world starting August 1.

Quicktequila, the studio behind Lovely Planet, is based out of Delhi. It’s essentially Vidhvat Madan, who was also one of the guys behind Circulets. The music is provided by noted indie composer Calum Bowen.

And while the game’s logo might have you wonder if it wasn’t the work of a Japanese developer, what with the title in Japanese, Madan says it’s been done to go with the game’s crazy, abstract vibe wherein not everything is supposed to make complete sense. A refreshing response given that most Indian developers stress on creating something that has a very obvious literal meaning with little to no conflict or barriers to entry.

While Lovely Planet will be on Steam, it has no price at the time of writing this. It will be interesting to see what Quicktequila decides is a fair amount to charge for its quirky shooter. In the meantime, check out some gameplay here:
