Don’t be left out. Here’s why you should subscribe to Tech in Asia
It’s been a few weeks since we launched our subscription plan, and the response has exceeded our expectations. As someone who’s been writing free content for years, I feel energized about serving paying customers, knowing that we have to work hard to maintain our subscribers’ attention and trust.
Challenge accepted.
Here’s an update on what we’ve been up to. I’d like to highlight some of the best content we’ve done so far, many of which are exclusive to subscribers (see the full list of exclusive content here).
Keen to sign up? You can do so at the promotional rate of US$18 US$9.90/month or US$180 US$99/year.
Since our launch, I’ve been meeting a number of readers face-to-face and looking at our analytics to better understand where our content direction should go.
The needs of our subscribers are diverse: Some turn to us for lead generation, while some want a general update of what’s happening in the tech scene. Meanwhile, others expect to see and dig into meatier content.
Moving forward, we’ll be experimenting a lot as we figure out the right balance. We’ll improve how we cover the scope and variety of tech news in Asia. We’ll give you the lowdown on the who’s who in the ecosystem. We’ll also dive deep into topics, personalities, and companies that matter. Feedback, suggestions, or tip-offs? Do reach out to me.
Without further ado, here’s a list of subscriber-exclusive content that you might be interested in:

The likes of Alibaba, Tencent, Grab, and Go-Jek may be dominating the news, but AirAsia is a giant you do not want to ignore. Hear from CEO Tony Fernandes himself as we discuss the latest additions to the airline’s digital journey.
2. 15 female founders in Southeast Asia who are smashing the glass ceiling
We’re always keeping an eye on all-star players in the tech ecosystem. With this roll call – already a hit among subscribers – we spotlight female trailblazers who are role models for everyone else.
3. The under-the-radar ecommerce startup that’s taking Thailand and Malaysia by storm
There are many hidden gems in the startup scene. Here’s one of many that we’ll unearth.
4. From Silicon Valley copycat to CEO of Meituan-Dianping: How Wang Xing did it
We put out plenty of excerpts from books about Asia’s tech titans – with just one subscription, you can sample what publishers are putting on the shelves. This peek into China’s most well-known “cloner” has become a subscriber favorite.
5. Meet SMRT’s stealth startup, which just got funded by Toyota Tsusho
While many reports scratched the surface, we were the first to go the extra mile and point out that MobilityX is actually a subsidiary of SMRT, one of Singapore’s largest transport operators. This indicates that mobility-as-a-service isn’t going away any time soon, and we’ll offer more insights into what’s driving this phenomenon.
In the coming months, we’ll tirelessly deliver more value-added content that will be for our subscribers’ eyes only. I can’t wait to share them with you.
