League of Legends Season 4 World Championships: more Asian than ever

Mark your calendars because the League of Legends Season 4 World Championship Finals will be taking place in Seoul, Korea on October 19th. Before that though, the world’s 16 best League of Legends teams will be making a few other stops in Asia.

First, they’ll head to Taiwan and Singapore, where the teams will be split into four groups and battle it out in the group stages.

Then, the top two teams from each group will meet in Busan, Korea to participate in a quarterfinal showdown.

Finally, the remaining four teams will travel to Seoul (hometown of the defending Champions, SKT T1K) to duke it out in the finals.

Compared to last year at the Staples Center, which had a capacity of 18,000 to 21,000, this year’s venue for the Championship Finals will be the Sangam Stadium. It hosted the 2002 FIFA World Cup, and can hold up to 66,806 people. Considering Asia’s population, yeah, that was probably a good decision.
