Who is OMG’s Cloud? An interview with the team’s mysterious starting support

Seven members, three support players – that’s the current composition for Team OMG, arguably the most well-known Chinese League of Legends team in the world.

OMG has been on the world stage numerous times, but so far with no international titles to show for it. Most recently, they finished second at All-Star 2014, losing to SKT T1K in the finals. Fans were quick to point fingers, blaming the loss on Pomelo’s jungling, and even the former midlaner Xiyang’s lack of champion versatility.

But the organization itself clearly believes the reason to be something else: the lack of a capable support to perfectly complement their masterful ADC, San.

Currently, there’s Pomelo, the team’s stout veteran and support-gone-jungle, and now back to support again. Then there’s Dada7, who previously left OMG for Positive Energy, but rejoined for the LPL Summer split. And finally there’s Cloud, the team’s mysterious and relatively unknown newcomer who managed to grab the starting spot from his more experienced teammates.

How long have you been playing LOL?

Since September 2012. I originally played Dota, but it was boring by myself, and since all of my friends played League of Legends at the time, I joined them.

You climbed up the ladder by only using support. Why didn’t you play any other positions?

When I first started playing League of Legends, I saw a video of a European match and they really liked to use Blitzcrank. I saw how he saved a teammate with his hook by grabbing the chasing enemy, as well as hook the enemy midlaner in team fights. I thought he was very powerful, so he’s the first champion I bought. When you play support a lot, you don’t want to play any other positions, since it’s both easy and great at helping teammates.

It looks like you really like Blitzcrank. What rating did you get to playing him?
