TransferWise to hire over 70 new employees in Singapore after rebrand

“UK-based digital payments firm TransferWise on Monday announced its rebranding to Wise and the expansion of its Singapore office to grow its regional footprint,” reported The Business Times.

Details:

  • Apart from the name change, the company will also recruit more than 70 employees for roles in expansion, engineering, product, and operations as it moves into a bigger office space.
  • Wise has also appointed Lim Paik Wan as country manager for the Malaysia as it expands its presence in the country.

Context:

  • The fintech firm claims to process 4.5 billion pounds (US$6.3 billion) in cross-border transactions every month.
  • The company aims to address the cross-border payments problem in Southeast Asia, where innovation has not happened at domestic levels.
