Didi to lay off 20% of employees

Didi Global, the Chinese ride-hailing behemoth, is going for a massive layoff across all departments, reported Pandaily, citing Chinese media outlet LatePost.

While 20% of staff will be let go overall, the headcount for each of the operations and business departments will be reduced by 20% as well.

Employees at its ride-hailing, two-wheeled vehicles, and freight transportation units have already received layoff notices. These  notices have been fast-tracked and the process is likely to be completed by the end of the month.

Didi reported its third-quarter revenue dropped 1.7% compared with the previous quarter amid a crackdown by Chinese regulators that forced many of the ride-hailing firm’s apps to be taken down.
