Launch of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note in Singapore sees 5,000 phones sold within 42 seconds, breaking last record

When Xiaomi first came to Singapore to sell its flagship phone, the Mi3, every single phone from the first batch was snapped up in two minutes flat. Today, Xiaomi went one better with the inaugural launch of the Redmi Note. All 5,000 units of the 5.5-inch screened ‘phablet’ were sold out in an astonishing 42 seconds.
On the Xiaomi Singapore Facebook page, a representative was quick to note that their ‘sold out timing’ refers to the time when all inventory is cleared, and is not indicative of orders placed.
Still, this means that Singapore continues to hold the record for the fastest Xiaomi debut sell-out among all the new countries that the Chinese phone-maker has gone to. The last new country launch took place in the Philippines and was something of a disappointment with 3,000 Mi3 phones taking more than an hour to sell out.
If you weren’t able to get your hands on Xiaomi’s phablet, you can at least read a review of the Redmi Note here to whet your appetite.
