Bringing Kaskus to the next level (Startup Asia Preview)

the sky is not a limit

Kaskus is easily one of the most well known internet brands of Indonesia. A giant discussion forum commanding over 28 million unique visits each month, it has been trying to morph itself into an e-commerce marketplace. Perhaps Kaskus already is a marketplace with millions of people using it as a platform to buy and sell products. But sales aren’t tracked by Kaskus, which makes it hard for the company to improve user experience and monetization.

Kaskus was founded by current CTO Andrew Darwis back in 1999 and now led by Ken Dean Lawadinata who plays the CEO role. Both of them went through thick and thin to build Kaskus as Indonesia’s most visited internet forum. But is that enough? Apparently not. Kaskus, like any ambitious company, wants to bring itself to greater heights. But how, exactly?

For our upcoming Startup Asia Jakarta conference on November 21 and 22, we are uber excited to have both Ken and Andrew discuss how they plan to bring Kaskus to the next level. We can’t share with you our list of questions just yet, but some of the learning points in this fireside chat could include:

  • The pain of growing startups and how to curb them
  • How can/should founders plan for the company’s future
  • Understanding your own strengths and how to hire to curb your weaknesses

For our dear readers and/or participants of Startup Asia Jakarta, we urge you to throw us your burning questions here. If you haven’t registered your Startup Asia tickets, you can do so here.
