Ad Tech jobs
We’ve all been a little creeped out by eerily spot-on Facebook ads. We’ve all heaved sighs of exasperation when our favourite streamed programs are interrupted by a non-sequitur commercial. As a jobseeker though, rising ad spend on digital media also translates into opportunities you wouldn’t want to miss out on in the ad tech space.

Indonesia may lag behind its neighbours in terms of internet and mobile penetration rates, but its teeming population is enough to guarantee that the aspiring ad tech employee will find plenty of opportunities on its shores. Singapore is an ad tech hub by virtue of its highly wired populace. Many Asian markets haven’t yet reached the threshold where mobile and social media advertising outstrip traditional print and television advertising in terms of reach, but expect that moment to come sooner rather than later.
Job opportunities
Ad tech startups are naturally attuned to the importance of selling themselves and their services, and this is reflected in the type of jobs on offer. Ad tech vacancies are primarily in marketing and business, with comparatively fewer opportunities for web or mobile developers. The nature of the industry also makes it likely that even programmers will need to have a good grasp of how the sales and advertising machine works, on top of their professional proficiencies. Students aiming for exposure and experience will find plenty of internships to sink their teeth into.
Hiring companies

Google and Facebook are probably still going to get the lion’s share of ad tech profits in the near future. Don’t count Asian ad tech startups out too soon, though. Singapore is home (at least in part) to established ad tech players like AdAsia (AnyMind Group), Glispa and Eyeota, which have all raised millions of dollars in seed funds. Over in India, InMobi became only the second Indian unicorn to hit profitability in 2017. Ad tech recruitment is only going to amp up from now.
