Yahoo has appointed a new team to lead Australia and Southeast Asia as the US-based tech giant increases its focus on advertising in those regions. A new managing director, John McNerney, will lead the group.
Yahoo Advertising provides clients with digital media solutions to create campaigns through different channels, including TV, mobile, display, video, and out-of-home ads.
McNerney has been with Yahoo for 13 years; his most recent role was senior director of platforms for Asia Pacific. In his new position, he will oversee staff across Yahoo Advertising’s various verticals.
Shifting the focus to advertising is a “natural evolution” because in recent years, Yahoo has been helping its clients with digital marketing, according to McNerney.
Supporting McNerney is a newly formed management team for Asia Pacific that consists of:
- Matt Farrington, head of partnerships and investment for APAC
- Julia Edwards, commercial director for Australia and SEA
- Andrew Gilbert, director of platforms for Australia and SEA
- Kenneth Koh, head of demand side platforms for SEA
- Dan Richardson, head of data for APAC
- Zoe Cocker, director of Yahoo Creative Studio and premium sales
