In brief: JD starts selling its products on Google’s ecommerce platform

  • JD, one of China’s largest online shopping service, has started selling some of its goods through a Google ecommerce platform in the US – a tie-up that will expand the virtual retail reach of both companies.
  • Shoppers can buy around 500 products from JD’s Joybuy in-house brand – such as keyboards, headphones, and kitchen appliances – through Google Express. The latter also hosts American outlets like discount retailer Costco Wholesale.
  • The move represents the first outgrowth of a capital partnership that began with Google’s US$550 million investment in JD in June 2018.
