Sea CEO makes efforts to be transparent after stock plunge

Sea Group CEO Forrest Li has sent an email to all employees in order to erase their fear of the company’s stock price plunge and defend its decision to continue spending on growth, Bloomberg reported.

The unusual move is seen as an effort from Sea’s top management to be more transparent after it lost around three-quarters of its valuation in five months. Li also made a rare detailed explanation during the company’s earnings call for the fourth quarter of 2021.

According to some sources, fund managers have urged Sea to be more open about its strategy and numbers.

Sea co-founder Gang Ye had also flown to India to meet with Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla and discuss the ban on Garena’s Free Fire, according to a source. India reportedly won’t reverse its decision on Free Fire but decided to not ban Shopee, another source said.
