In brief: Japanese VC firm to launch $27m fund for Indian startups
- Tokyo-based venture capital specialist Incubate Fund will launch Incubate Fund India with the aim to invest US$27 million in Indian startups by the end of the year.
- The VC firm plans to station experienced Japanese staff in Bangalore to search for prospective companies to invest in. The India fund will focus on early-stage deals.
- Many startups are growing rapidly in India as the country’s middle class grows. There are around 20 unicorns and big venture funds, such as Sequoia Capital, that are active in the market.
