All good things must come to an end they say, and player careers are no exception. In a recent interview, Team DK’s own Zhang “LaNm” Zhicheng announced that The International 2014 (TI4) will be “the last competition” for him, as he will be retiring from as a player from Dota 2 scene. Here’s the full interview with English subtitles:

This is not the first time a player has announced retirement after The International. Benedict “Hyhy” Lim did the same thing during The International 2012. Team DK’s carry Xu “BurNIng” Zhilei also announced his retirement after his team’s loss at The International 2013, but later decided to continue playing.
LaNm is one of the few players to have attended all four Internationals and was also part of the legendary Chinese team Ehome. As a fan, it’s always sad to see one of the best players say goodbye to the competitive world. It is unknown whether or not LaNm will be staying in the scene as a caster or coach, but a veteran player like him is definitely going to be missed.
