In brief: Japan lacks investment opportunities, says Masayoshi Son
- SoftBank founder and CEO Masayoshi Son said that there is a lack of investment opportunities inside Japan as the country lags in AI race, Reuters reported.
- Son added that “Japan has become a developing country” in the AI space.
- While SoftBank’s US$100 billion Vision Fund has been pouring investment into late-stage tech startups around the world, it has overlooked investments in its home country in favor of markets like the US, China, and India.
- “Japan needs to wake up to this new reality and catch up,” Son said.
