Nicole Seah is Singapore’s Most Popular Politician on Facebook

It’s official. National Solidarity Party’s (NSP), Nicole Seah, has overtaken Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew to claim top spot as Singapore’s most popular politician on Facebook.

While the number of ‘likes’ on each politician’s Facebook page isn’t exactly the most important matter to talk about, Seah’s soaring social media profile is certainly something to learn from.

Despite entering the election just 2 weeks ago, Seah currently has about 57,000 likes on her Facebook page at the point of writing. Her confidence in front of pressing media and reliable new media team are have both contributed to her success. All of a sudden, Seah has become an iconic figure for Singaporeans who yearn for a change, at least from a third party point of view.

Like what Seah’s new media team shared with us, her Facebook page is open for everyone to share and discuss. Occasionally, Seah does get some bad buzz on her page but these negative comments are usually addressed by loyal supporters. As fans share and discuss on her page, the conversations go into the news feed which attracts even more people to join her network. Her online success also attracted major local news media which intensified her spotlight even more.

Seah entered the political sphere as the youngest candidate in this year’s election, and that’s a story unto itself.

To be fair, what we have seen so far are just talks and media appearances. While Seah handles media pressure well, it remains to be seen if her confidence can translate to actual results. At least for now, her social media success is nothing short of fascinating. She definitely deserves full credit for her effort thus far.
